The week of February 3rd, 2020, was dedicated to the hard working counselors in our school district. Here we celebrate five of our counselors and get a glimpse of their commitment to devotion and service for our students in PVUSD.
PVFT is grateful for the dedication to quality education and service for our students in PVUSD this week and every week.
Thank you PVFT Counselor members!
On November 13th, Wednesday night, we had nearly a hundred members show up to Cilantro’s to meet with our negotiations team, ask questions, and get informed!
Most of those members continued on to the School Board meeting to speak their truths about the lack of support which affect our working conditions and our students’ learning conditions and the struggle of living in the county while working in PVUSD. What a show of solidarity!

How long have you been teaching?: I just started my 3rd year teaching.
How did your early schooling experiences impact your decision to go into teaching? I immigrated to the United States when I was 4 years old. I attended Mintie White Elementary, E.A. Hall Middle School and Watsonville High School. I was lucky to encounter many teachers who guided me and fostered my education and drive to improve in all academic areas. I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world and I could not think of a better way to do it than by working with children and hopefully guiding, supporting and inspiring them in the same way that I was when I was a student in this district.
Describe the role social justice plays in your classroom and philosophy of education?: Social justice is at the center of all that I want to transmit to my students. It is important that all of my students feel that they can identify with the curriculum and that they are in an environment that is safe and caring so that they can learn.
How does the Union support you?: The Union has greatly supported me, as a new teacher, by ensuring that I know my rights. Whenever I have a question I know that it can guide me so that I am not overwhelmed and so that I can focus on improving my craft.
