In January 1969, the American Federation of Teachers issued a charter to the Pajaro Valley Federation of Teachers. For 50 years, PVFT Local 1936 has provided leadership for the collective voice of our members.
The union has seen our members through both difficult and rewarding times. We work to represent the best interests of our members and ultimately the students we are serving. We represent multiple facets of education including Adult Education, K-12, SELPA, CTE, Counselors, and Early Childhood Education. PVFT negotiators are heading back to the bargaining table working on our current contract that was extended to July 30, 2020. Our team negotiates this collective bargaining agreement to maximize our wages, benefits, hours, working conditions, and other related policies and procedures. They will uphold the PVFT tradition to do what’s best for teachers and students. However, none of this is possible without you, our membership.
The PVFT Executive Board serves as your representative body. The Executive Board is made up of a representative from all the departments we represent. At monthly meetings, the Council of Representatives discuss issues and policies as well as make decisions on behalf of the membership. These policies and decisions are then implemented by the Executive Council Officers. Members elect their representatives at each site, through a democratic process.
